Patrick M. Morgan
Patrick M. Morgan was appointed the Thomas and Elizabeth Tierney
Chair in Peace and Conflict Studies, and Professor in the Political
Science Department at the University of California Irvine in 1991. He
had been at Washington State University for 24 years after receiving his
Ph.D. from Yale University in Bruges, Belgium, and annually delivered a
number of lectures at Catholic University Leuven in Belgium. He has
taught at the University if Washington, and the Universitaure Instelling
in Antwerp, the University of Aberdeen, and Kings College London. In
recent years he has delivered invited lectures in Britain, Germany,
Sweden, South Korea, Poland, Japan, Canada, and Italy as well as in the
US.
He has been a Fellow at the Wilson Center in Washington, DC, a
Fulbright Teaching Fellow in Belgium, an American Council on Education
Fellow at Berkeley, and a fellow at the Rockefeller Center at Bellagio
(June-July 1997) In 1998-9 he served as a Vice President of the
International Studies Association, the global association of
international affairs specialists.
He is the Acting Director of the Global Peace and Conflict Studies
program at UC Irvine, on the Board of Directors of the World Affairs
Council of Orange County, and a member of the Pacific Counsel on
International Policy.
His major interests are national and international security, US
-European relations, regional conflict, and East Asian security affairs.
He is a co - founder and active member of the Council on US - Korean
Security Studies, which is active in US - Korean relations.
